Joe Biden, the “Squad”, socialist wannabes and all of their sycophant supporters, this week should be an eye-opener for you. Dedication and belief in a cause can overcome powerful opposition. Tanks, jets, heavy weaponry, and nukes do not always guarantee victory.
As I write this article:
-Americans trapped in Afghanistan are fearful for their lives.
-Americans in uniform are fearful for their brethren in harm’s way.
-Americans at home are fearful for our country’s direction.
Why? Because a nation full of committed believers, armed mostly with mere rifles, a few big guns, and some mortars, managed to wait out the most powerful country in the world. The Taliban and other Muslim supporters waged a war of guerilla encounters and tactical patience until the will of U.S. leaders wavered. This was capped off by ignorant decisions by the President to surrender a defensible airbase, virtually assuring no way of organized evacuation of U.S. citizens, our Afghani allies, and their families.
This was the second time in the last 50 years that American forces were defeated by an unclear mission and political interference with the military operations. We should have learned our lesson in Vietnam, but a man who was already a Senator during that time, did not.
What Joe Biden and his anti-gun pals should remember though is that armed American citizens comprise the largest reserve army in the world. Conservative estimates state that over 100 million Americans own at least one firearm.
Recently when discussing new gun control options, our “you know” President offered, “If you wanted or if you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons. The point is that there has always been the ability to limit — rationally limit the type of weapon that can be owned and who can own it.
“The Second Amendment, from the day it was passed, limited the type of people who could own a gun and what type of weapon you could own. You couldn’t buy a cannon. Those who say the ‘blood of patriots,’ you know, and all the stuff about how we’re going to have to move against the government. Well, the tree of liberty is not watered with the blood of patriots.”
I am not sure to what part of the Second Amendment Biden was referring, but there is nothing in it limiting ANYTHING. It clearly states that ‘the Right of the People” (no specification) to “Keep and Bear Arms” (again, no specification) “Shall Not Be Infringed”. Plain English if you ask me.
As a nation, we are only 250 years old. The patriots that “Sleepy Joe” referenced, that fought for our freedom, were merely armed citizens. They had had enough when the King decided that the colonials should be disarmed. That decision led to the victorious American Revolution despite fighting the contemporaneous “strongest military in the world”.
The Taliban, at the cost of thousands of American lives, ten of thousands of appendages and over a Trillion dollars, just proved the President’s June 23rd Second Amendment references completely wrong.
He and his fellow gun-grabbers should remember that before treading too far.
