Joe Rogan could be broadcasting to a national audience on primetime cable networks. Tucker Carlson could get back on top in the primetime news ratings. The nation could be exposed to Alex Jones even if the lawfare being used against him succeeds. Think this is fiction? A couple of years ago people thought the same about Twitter allowing free speech.
So a recent social media exchange between Donald Trump Jr and Elon Musk has people discussing the possibility of the SpaceX owner buying the MSNBC network. Intended as a joke, the story has now gained traction in many conservative and independent minds. The thought of a liberal network “flipping red” is almost too good to be believed. However, as recent history has taught us, billionaires have the financial capability to hugely impact on politics, elections and the national (even global) outlook.
Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Smith, and Jeff Bezos undoubtedly made a difference in the 2020 elections by suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story, as well as overall promotion of liberal ideology. There is another side to that coin however, as we saw a freedom-loving billionaire counter those actions by purchasing Twitter. His belief in Americans being able to speak freely cost him $44 BILLION dollars. That is true support of freedom, not just lip service.
I had some thoughts (some would call them fantasies or daydreams) about the Musk purchase of what used to be a major player in actual national news…before it became a propaganda machine of the Democrat party.
Many boomers and Gen X’ers do not listen to podcasts. There are several reasons as to why, from technological ignorance, a misplaced trust in mainstream media or no time for it. How many Americans could be introduced to Joe Rogan if his show were easily accessible on their cable package? Of course, there would need to be some serious “bleeping” due to the use of profanity. The main issue would be in production, as I am sure Rogan would want no changes to the program that he started in a spare room in his house during conversations with fellow comedians. The show needs to be just a national broadcasting of his already existing video feed. Advertisements would interrupt the interesting conversations, so you could just do a split screen ad that never alters the flow.
Tucker Carlson now podcasts also and has a friendly competition with Rogan for the number one ranking. Putting his show on national primetime would draw his previous Fox News viewers, especially the ones who now get no exposure to him because they do not use X.
Lastly, Alex Jones has long been the target of the democrats and globalists (I repeat myself). Most of the country has only been exposed to him through negative news stories. Many people would be curious to hear what he actually has to say. Obviously, it is interesting, informative, and/or entertaining since his audience continues to grow despite only negative coverage. His recent legal issues threaten to take away his platform permanently. If he were merely an employee of a network, he could still reach the Americans who choose to listen to him. After all, the left is pro-choice right?
Obviously, buying MSNBC would be a financial drain on Elon, but it could turn financially positive quickly. Advertising costs could rise with the increase in viewership, as many companies ride the shoulders of mainstream culture in placing ads. The “red wave” that just hit in the 2024 election shows that the culture of America is shifting to the right side, in both senses of the word.
