Hollywood is a part of Los Angeles California, but it is more commonly associated with being the home of the film and television industry. Not even another country has a more robust, widespread, and influential entertainment industry. It is famous for being a place where dreams come true, here companies like Universal, Warner Bros, and Disney create compelling stories that every generation can enjoy. You would think that the home of such a diverse art form would be populated by people who are just as diverse in thought. But it has become the capital for left-leaning policies and ideas, why is that?

Many of those who work in the film industry will constantly remind you that they support Democratic candidates and causes. They will go on and on about how great they are and tell you how you should live your life. However, instead of just going off the famous examples let us analyze the political leaning of everyone in the film industry. That way you do not just have to take my word for it.

According to Verdantlabs.com, Democrats populate most film jobs. This includes 88% of musicians, 90% of actors, 95% of animators, 93% of screenwriters, 91% of movie producers, 93% of TV producers, 92% of film directors, 98% of TV directors, 96% of film editors, and 100% of costume designers. Zippia.com continues, stating that most film-related jobs are populated by a majority of Democrats. This includes 96% of visual artists, 90% of production artists, 94% of writers and producers, and 85% of artists in general.

Why is it that most film jobs are dominated by people who are Democrats? I believe that it is because filmmaking, or art-making in general, is a profession that doesn’t need to adhere to reality. The difference between a good movie and a bad one is more based on preference. It is not the same as a good (ripe) vegetable versus a bad one. Success in the film industry is not dictated by truth, it is decided by how you can connect with other people. If an artist makes a movie that is about how they see the world, and people pay to watch it, then they are successful, regardless of whether their viewpoint of the world is correct or not. Being factually correct can actually be a hindrance to an art piece. For art to stand out in the community, it must be unique.

This is the same for other jobs that are populated by Democrats. If we go back to Zippia.com again, it says that the most popular jobs for Democrats are union organizers, high school teachers, and environmentalists. Verdanlabs.com says that Social and environmental jobs, film and stage production jobs, and academia are the most popular with Democrats. As a college professor, you do not have to be right, you just must teach. As a union manager, you do not have to complain about a real problem, you just need to complain loudly. If you are an environmentalist, you do not have to be right because the only way you can be proven wrong is if the world never changes temperature. And if you are a filmmaker, you will never have anything of tangible value that you can measure, just your popularity level by a bunch of like-minded peers who will also never see their ideas tested with real stakes.

This is also why most jobs based, where the results can be measured, are populated by Republicans. According to Verdantlabs.com the jobs that Republicans occupy the most are oil workers, farmers, car salesmen, and the military. According to Zippia.com logger, missionary, trucker, and mason are some of the most popular jobs for Republicans. As a farmer, if you are wrong about how much water to use, your plants die. As a car salesman, if you are wrong about what people value in a car, you will not make any money. If you are in the oil industry and your numbers are off by even a little bit, the economy might collapse. And in the military, if you are wrong about anything at any time, people could die.

This is not to say that Hollywood is a land full of idiots; it has some of the most inventive, amazing, affectionate, and talented people in the world. However, like colleges, it has become a safe place for idiots. Leftist ideas will always run for a place to hide away from reality and consequences. Otherwise, they would be forced to change and adapt to fit the real world, and let us face it, if they did that, they probably would not be Democrats anymore.

Hollywood is the place where dreams come true, but it is also the place where everyone is dreaming. They are stuck forever in a fantasy land of their own creation, one that regular people only get to see small parts of in their films. As a final message to Hollywood, I would like to say thanks for all the great movies, but if you think that makes you qualified to tell me how to live my life, keep dreaming.
