OF the People, BY the People and FOR the People…Not OVER the people.

In a recent discussion about our nation’s leadership, Tucker Carlson stated that many of our elected officials and bureaucrats exhibit a palpable disdain for the American people. This assertion resonates with me watching the continuing decline of our country, a trend seemingly unaddressed by Congress and various state representatives. This does not align with the vision our Founding Fathers had for a government that serves its citizens.

The current political discourse is marked by a fixation on international issues at the expense of pressing domestic concerns. For instance, the Democratic Party often emphasizes humanitarian crises abroad, such as the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. However, it is equally vital to address the struggles faced by American families who are grappling with rising costs of living and health care.

Similarly, discussions about climate change often overshadow the everyday challenges that many Americans endure. Families are increasingly burdened by the rising costs of energy and fuel caused by Biden policies, and yet these realities frequently take a back seat to environmental discussions.

Furthermore, the political focus on international conflicts, such as the situation between Israel and Hamas, raises questions about priorities. While supporting allies is crucial, neglecting critical issues at home, such as security at our southern border, is a significant oversight. The open southern United States border presents a range of challenges, including potential threats to national security, which seem to be sidelined in the Democrat focus.

It is not solely national leaders who are culpable in this trend. Local officials, including city mayors and state governors, also seem to prioritize national or international affairs over their constituents’ immediate needs. For instance, the enactment of “sanctuary city” policies often serves to protect undocumented immigrants, but it frequently comes at the cost of significant urban decay, rising crime rates, pollution, and homelessness. The focus on such non-local policies can detract from the pressing need for effective governance in our cities.

One of the most perplexing aspects of this situation is the constant re-election or election of Democrat officials. Despite consistently witnessing neglect from these elected officials, many citizens continue to re-elect them or replace them with new representatives from the same party. This behavior raises an important question: Why do constituents repeatedly support leaders who fail to deliver meaningful change? A common tactic used by the Democratic Party is to accuse Republicans of racism or bigotry. This framing, often amplified by media support, can obscure the reality of the local conditions, and distract critical evaluation of the current official’s performance.

Why do so many individuals seem unwilling or unable to recognize that their situation has not improved, or has worsened? If an employee fails to fulfill the commitments made to their employer, they face consequences, including potential termination. Yet, there appears to be a disconnect when it comes to government accountability. The fundamental principle that “We, the People” are the true bosses of our government seems to have been forgotten by both citizens, their representatives, and the bureaucracy. American government, at all levels, exists ONLY WITH THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED. Re-read and remember that fact.

This lapse in accountability is troubling, particularly given the increasing disillusionment with established political structures. Citizens are left to grapple with feelings of frustration and disenfranchisement as they witness the same cycle of neglect and unfulfilled promises. The need for a reawakening of civic responsibility and engagement is paramount.

In a political landscape where one individual has famously attempted to “drain the swamp,” it is crucial to reflect on what this truly means. The phrase “You’re fired,” made popular by Donald Trump, serves as a stark reminder that accountability should extend beyond the workplace and into the realm of government. We, the People, must reclaim our power by demanding that representatives fulfill their commitments, prioritize the needs of their constituents, or get ready to be removed.
